Yesterday we started a mini writing inquiry. Check out all the things we discovered about writing instructions and procedural texts.
1- What is an action verb? 2- Give two example of an action verb. 3- How is it structured? 4- What language features are in a procedural text? 5- Why do we write them? 6- What could they be about?

Wow! What an amazing achievement everyone! This has been a long journey, filled with new experiences and skill development. Please think about and answer the following questions on the blog below.
1- What was your favourite building job and why? 2- As a builder, what is your number one building tip? 3- How do you think we worked as a team? Why? (don't write "good"- I would like more information please) 4- What was your biggest challenge? Why? 5- What are you most proud of? Why? For the past two weeks, the Wonderful Writers have been exploring persuasive language with the challenge of convincing Miss Jones that Moro Bars are necessary to increase our learning capacity at school. Check out some of our arguments below. AND I wonder who will be the most convincing and win?
We had a go at making paper corrugated to see how much stronger it was than normal flat sheets. See below.
For the past two weeks we have been building our compost bin. Last week, we had a great session, with Cortan becoming our Builder of the Week. He won this prize because of his fabulous can-do attitude and Mr Hoffmeester said that the difference between a good builder and a very good builder is a clean work site. Lewis also received a certificate at assembly for striving for success when building the compost bin and having a brilliant attitude. Great job Lewis and Cortan. Who will be our builder of the day in Week 7? This week we have been busy making the frame of the compost bin. We have been using the spirit level, hammers, galvanized nails, saw, drill and timber. Check out our photos and our writing blog below. Please leave comments! Today we started building the frame of the compost bin. Check out what we got up to today and some of the skills we learnt in the blog below!
WALT generate BIG questions! After our detective work yesterday around the school, we came up with these BIG questions that we want to investigate. Check them out: Question1: Why does Clearview Primary have lots of rubbish outside? Question2: How will growing vegetables at school help the environment and reduce waste? What can we use these for? Question3: How can we fix the compost bin by reusing materials and recycling? What is a compost bin used for? How can we use it at Clearview? We also found this you tube clip in our research helping us to layer a compost bin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZqWTYB_XLwE From these questions, we have decided to focus on questions 2 and 3. Here are some photos of the compost bin and vegetable gardens. These are BEFORE photos: |
